Business Uncomplicated

Let’s start by lightening up! I’ve met and worked and played with folks who are wildly successful, according to their own yardstick. This is what they have in common…

  • They love what they do.
  • They make money with the money they have.
  • They simplify even the most complicated concepts.
  • They quit now and then. They know when and how to stop. Not every idea is a winner.
  • They reflect and recharge and restart.
  • They have a sense of humor, and good measure of empathy.
  • They are happy.
  • They that what they do matters.
  • And they don’t work that hard. At least, it doesn’t feel like work to them.

HERE’S A SIMPLE TECHNIQUE FOR DEFINING SUCCESS BY YOUR YARDSTICK

CONSIDER THIS PARADOX: THE HARDER YOU WORK, THE LESS SUCCESSFUL YOU BECOME

Paradox: par·a·dox – ˈperəˌdäks/noun

A statement or proposition that, despite sound (or apparently sound) reasoning from acceptable premises, leads to a conclusion that seems senseless, logically unacceptable, or self-contradictory.

Really, if you worked twice as “hard” as you do now, would you be twice as successful? And, consider, are the people you know who seem to be crazy successful working 24 hours a day? Or do they have time to vacation and golf and take a personal call?

So consider another paradox: If you work less hard, and focus on what matters, you’ll gain more wealth and satisfaction.

This paradox is essential to Business Uncomplicated. Are you in?

In the video, you have a simple assignment. Make your list. Left side…what you don’t want. Right side…what you would rather have. Most folks never lay claim to what they really want. Instead they keep beating the drum of what isn’t working and they create that misery over and over. How about you? Ready to make your business less complicated? It can be done if you are willing to let go of what isn’t working.

Here’s an example from one of my clients…

Don’t want… Rather have…

Cash Crunch 2:1… Cash to Accounts Payable ration

No one can it do but me… Scalable systems…

Never see my kids… Balance family, personal, career, community…

Make your list and imagine what your life can be. What you don’t want is the springboard to what you do want. Everything on the right side is do-able. Imagining it, affirming it, taking action, testing, refining…that’s how you create it.
