Business is not a complicated mystery. There is not a book or seminar that holds the cryptic message, if only you were clever enough to figure it out. There is no mentor who is withholding the secret formula until you say the magic word.
Business is easy. Consider what you want and why, and take bold action in that direction. Measure your results. Adjust and repeat. That’s essentially a business plan. And you build a business for the sheer joy of the creative process. And, the money is nice, too.
Sometimes fear holds us back. Sometimes the negative voices in our heads convince us that we aren’t worthy. Sometimes we are too smart, and cleverly obsess over all the ways things can go wrong. Sometimes we believe others who tell us how hard it is and that we must suffer to succeed.
Business is easy. We just try so hard to complicate it. Certainly, I’ve fallen for these self-imposed limitations. I help my clients recognize them, too. There’s no judgement here…only love.
You may benefit from some structure and encouragement to focus, simplify, and create your business plan. That is what I set out to do when I created The Challenge. I’ve hosted The Challenge eight times. It’s an intensive eight-week Business Planning course. Recently, I got to spend the day with Challenger graduates Steve Mundinger, his daughter and son-in-law, Danielle and Nathan Andreas, of Andreas Plumbing. We poured through their Biz Plan, paying special attention to the financials and the Organizational Chart.
At the end of the day, I asked what ‘hit’ them about the business planning review. Here’s what Steve and Danielle shared.
Nice! Sound, basic business insights. Nothing mysterious. I am so proud of the guys! they have grown from 3 to 8 team members. They are looking at expanding with a new real estate deal. And they have created a family friendly culture, filled with love and respect. Not bad for a family business. I see blue skies ahead for Team Andreas. And you!
